Rule (Marked Men, #1) - Jay Crownover

Rule (Marked Men, #1)Rule by Jay Crownover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Re-read: May 29, 2013
Loved it just as much as the first time I read it. There are still mistakes, but again I was so wrapped up in the story it didn't bother me as much. Had to do a re read so I can remember Jet and Ayden! I'm so stoked for their story and to get more Rule and Shaw!!

First Read: January 13, 2013
Oh me oh my!!! Where is my fan!! What kind of name is Rule!?? That was my first question, buy dayyyuuuum if it didn't start to grow on me!! I'm normally not attracted to tattoos and piercings and such, but man--Rule played by his own rules and knew what he liked and didn't like! And I LOVE that in a man. Of course there was a lot of grammatical errors and such, but I got so lost in the story and characters I still give it 5 AHMAZING FANTASTIC GLORIOUS stars!! I just hope Ayden and Jets book is critiqued better. I can't wait for more!! Also, Remy's tragic accident - so heart wrenching and emotional!

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain, #3) - Kristen Ashley

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain, #3)Lady Luck by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

1st read Sept 2012 - 4 out of 5 stars. Wasn't my favorite so far, but still interesting and some parts intense. Ty and Lexie had a bumpy start and I wasn't sure they were going to make it. I could understand Ty and her reasonings. Ty had just got out of prison and didn't trust anyone..especially the person that sent Lexie to him. Lex had a rough life before Ty as well, but they worked through it all together.

Re-read May 2013
Upgraded Rating to 5 out of 5 stars. Oh Ty!!! Wow! I really enjoyed this book more the 2nd time! I really connected to Ty and Lexie more and loved their story!! Lex was an amazing woman for Ty. She got him...me personally, I need words...but hell if Ty could communicate with as little words as possible and still get his point across and the words he did end up speaking...wow! Love KA!

"Gives back a little of what she's given' you."
Man this was a swoon, wet your panties moment..."your nightmare, mama, was my dream."
"Whacked, fuckin' insane, but, at night, you curled in front of me, didn't mind I did that time that wasn't mine 'cause it meant I walked out to you."
"Right. Love you, Ty." "Down to my bones, mama, right back at you."
Lexie kept me cracking up! "Maybe they have Mr. Humongo's superpowers."

Wildest Dreams - Kristen Ashley

Wildest Dreams (Fantasyland, #1)Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was very hesitant when introduced to this book. Really didn't think I would like this sort of book...but after the first 5 pages I was hooked. I couldn't put it down. I read this long book quicker than i read 50 shades of grey. I never knew if Frey would take to Finnie and it kept me guessing. Finnie was so charming and witty - her character was so easy to love. I've never been into the whole other realm and fantasy type books/movies but this one was amazingly written and easy to picture all the places and adventures they went on. Frey is not like any other character and so sweet and generous and caring. At first I hated him, but grew to love his character as much as Finnie!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ARC was provided by Grand Central Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.75 stars
I really liked this one, it seemed more young adult/new adult to me. I really enjoyed the story, but was hoping for more. Their love was sweet, but seemed unrealistic. She was so forgiving and understanding. He had such a rough time and she was his saving grace.
I'll definitely read Madison's story!

Girl With Guitar - Released May 22, 2013

SYNOPSIS

After Kylie’s dad dies in a freak accident, he leaves her with nothing other than her crazy stepmother, Darla, and the ability to play guitar. When Darla kicks Kylie out and she loses her job all in the same day, she hops a bus to Nashville determined to make her late father’s dreams come true. Waitressing and saving her pennies to record a demo, her big break comes when she’s asked to join a tour going down the tubes with once platinum album-selling country music superstar Trace Corbin. But touring with Trace is hardly a dream come true since he’s pretty much drinking his career down the drain. If Kylie can’t pull Trace out of his rut, he’ll pull her and her dreams down with him.

TEASER

When they reached the sunroom, Trace was a perfect gentleman—much to her frustration. He handed her a towel, then did not so much as glance in her direction as he stripped down to his boxer briefs and wrapped a towel around his waist. She, on the other hand, couldn’t get enough. The sight of his bare skin had her synapses firing like AK-47 rounds. He was thick and muscular and had just a hint of a farmer’s tan. Back muscles rippling with each movement reminded Kylie of the horses her grandparents had. Something clicked in her head as she realized what it was that had her practically panting after him. He was loaded, like probably obscenely wealthy, but he did all the work around the farm himself. Still took care of his sisters. Himself. Had callouses on his hands like her daddy did, because he wasn’t afraid of hard work. Okay, and yeah, he was hot as hell and could sing a girl’s panties right off of her. She peeled her wet clothes off slowly—hoping he’d turn and look, but he just picked up what she’d dropped and darted out of the room. She kept her drenched bra and panties on and wrapped the towel around herself. She was feeling majorly insecure due to the “not at all interested” vibe Trace was radiating in her direction. Kylie headed towards the master bedroom with the intention of using that bathroom to shower, but changed direction at the last minute. Since Trace was gone, she’d go ahead and add her bra and panties to the laundry. Borrowing Rae’s clothes was one thing, but the thought of wearing someone else’s underwear freaked her out. She padded barefoot back towards the sound of a whirring washing machine. Trace was still nowhere to been seen when she finally found the laundry room. She dropped her towel and tossed her bra in the machine. She had just begun to slide her underwear down when the sharp intake of breath alerted her to the broad frame that darkened the doorway.

Beautiful Broken Rules - Kimberly Lauren

Beautiful Broken RulesBeautiful Broken Rules by Kimberly Lauren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seriously how hot is the name Jaxon Riley? And to have an equally as sexy identical twin brother, Jace??? Yummm!
It's a college setting. A girl who is a 'slut' bc she doesn't do relationships because of her screwed up outlook on relationships because of her divorced parents. Her parents died in a tragic car accident when they weren't even supposed to be together. Emerson is convinced they were having an affair. She has 2 constants in her life, Quinn and Ellie. Her step-sister and step-mom. Ever since freshman orientation, she has had a 3rd constant friendship with Cole. He is like a big brother to her. She doesn't do relationships because someone always ends up leaving and she shields herself and others from heartbreak.
Insert Jaxon Riley. Jaxon transferred schools from Texas and is Coles best friend from home. Jaxon and Emerson hit it off from the start. She has rules and she can't break them - they protect her and the other person. Jaxon on Emerson become best friends on top of the instant attraction, but Cole warned Jaxon off. He doesn't want his friends hurting each other because he's afraid he's going to lose Quinn if something goes wrong.
Jaxon has an identical twin brother, Jace who is the love able sweet one and Jaxon is the bad boy.
Jaxon is definitely swoon worthy. Here are some quotes.
"I'll show you how great we are going to be. Because you're the most beautiful girl I've ever met, and I'm not talking about your gorgeous face, your stunning hair or your drop-dead sexy body. I never knew it was possible to be so attracted to your best friend." *swoon*
"It's that YOU WERE MINE! Not his. MINE, EMERSON. But in your time of need, you chose someone else over me."
"For as long as I live, I'll never forget how your heartbeat feels against my chest."
And last but definitely NOT least:
"When I wake up in the morning, my does thought is of you and every minute for the rest of my day is spent thinking about you in some way or another."
Such a fantastic read...definitely recommend!

Awesome awesome awesome book! Hot and emotional!

ARC courtesy of author Caisey Quinn in exchange for an honest review.

Holy freaking cow! This is on my favorites shelf for life! I will be reading this again and again. Trace oh Trace. Cowboys and country music what else can you ask for?? I was reeled in by Nashville, country music, Kylie's heartbreaking story all in the first few chapters. This author knows how to grab your heart strings and tug at just the right moments.
There were a few typos here and there and the style if writing was different than what I like or am used to, so it took a little while to get used to it. Personally, my favorite is when the book has the main characters point of view and it seemed this one was a general point of view and that's where it got confusing (that's why the .25 stars were knocked off) more of just a preference. I understand why she didn't do it in one POV so we can understand the WHOLE story, but anyway!
Kylie caught the break of a life time and with it came a lot of trials. With no one in her life to help her make decisions, she was stuck to make them all by herself. She was a first feel and then think type of person, much like me. I think that's why I related so much to this character.
Trace was a heartbreaker and she knew it. He didn't do relationships or love. He really was into drinking and wanted to screw up his career because his label wasn't treating him fair. Kylie and Trace get to know each other better on the tour. I loved how they believed the best in each other. This is a definite must read and to read again book. This will be a go to book for me! Go and pick it up!

The Vincent Brothers (The Vincent Boys, #2) - Abbi Glines

The Vincent Brothers (The Vincent Boys, #2)The Vincent Brothers by Abbi Glines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really disliked Sawyer in the beginning of this book. I was thinking how shallow and selfish can one person be. He didn't care about anyone else's feelings. Oh Lana sweetie! Rejection by the people she loved the most is really hard. I felt like her dad could have been mentioned in the epilogue or something. I feel like that was left unresolved. With Sawyer it seems she left herself open for that rejection. Going after your cousins ex-boyfriend of 3 years?? That seemed a little strange, but it worked! I'm so glad I found this author and will keep reading more from her!

Color of Forgiveness (Color, #2) - Madeleine Beckett

Color of Forgiveness (Color, #2)Color of Forgiveness by Madeleine Beckett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved this one better than the first!!
Book 2 was better and full of more happiness than book 1! Definitely a must read by this author! I loved Susie and Chad the most in this book. I practically highlighted every name Susie called Dylan.
"Scruffy Greek god hunkawunaman"
"Hunky tool man"
"Scruffy Greek god tool man"
"Romantic tool man"
"Dylan the Guardian"
"Male chauvinist pig-amounted pigface"
"Dickhead douche brain"
"Greek god guardian"
"Douche unicorn"
One of my fav saying from Chad: "so they can ride the skin bus to Tuna town. Jesus, it's going to be a long f*cking time until I get a ticket on that bus..."
Anyway..really great follow up to Color of Loneliness. The double epilogue was amazing!!

Holy crapolie batman! Wow! What an ending. So glad I have book 2!! My heart is pumping in my chest!!!
I only gave it 4 stars because it was a little slow in the beginning. She was definitely building the characters, but there was a lot of contractor work going on that I could have done without.
Susie was awesome! What a wonderful funny BFF!!
Full review to come!
So Myra has had a lot of sadness in her life. She has no living relatives and her only relationship didn't work out. She was betrayed by the man she loves. She does have a wonderful best friend Susie, who I just adore! After her ex-boyfriend, Trent and his new girlfriend Julia flaunt their relationship in her face she gets tired of it and runs across the country to her hometown. Her Grampie left her a paid-for fixer-upper house and she wants to be a writer. What's a better way to start over? She hires a trusted handyman, Dylan, to give her an estimate on her repairs. He is broody and rude to her when he comes to look at her house. She hires him and he definitely doesn't warm up to her. She starts to wonder why he is so hateful to her. He is the most attractive man she has ever laid eyes on, but his attitude is such a turn off.
Myra's best friend Susie is my favorite character in the book and I highlighted the crap out of her funny sayings.
"Sweet baby cabooses on a cracker"
"Holy mother of all things horny"
"Dickweed bad of fire, shit-eating garden gnome"
"You scared the mother-loving hell out of me." And those were only on one page!!! They are through out this book!! Too funny!
Anyway, Myra and Dylan both had a lot of sadness and tribulations in their lives. The first book doesn't uncover all of the mysteries and it kind of leaves a cliff hanger so make sure you have the 2nd book handy!

The Sea of Tranquility

The Sea of TranquilityThe Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

BEST ENDING EVER!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhh I'm crying!
I give this book a solid 5/5 stars! I deserves way more!! I devoured this book. I literally couldn't put it down! The only way I could tell it was YA was because the kids were in high school and there was one sex scene, but wow with the emotional level on this one I don't know if I could handle a sex scene. The slow build up of Nastya and Josh's friendship/relationship was perfect. I never liked the name Nastya. Josh definitely didn't, and only called her Sunshine.
Nastya had a tough few years before she started her senior year. Understatement of the century, but she meets Josh who has a "force field" around him. People are scared to go near him because everyone he has ever loved dies, except Drew. Drew us an interesting character. I instantly liked him because of his charms and stupid crude comments to Nastya, which she didn't put up with even if she didn't talk. Yes, you read that right...she was mute!
She chose not to talk to anyone until she spoke to Josh one day. I loved watching their story unfold and I was so anxious to know what happened to her and why she died.
This book review is really hard...it's hard to put such a gem into words to make you understand you should read this NOW! The ending was AHMAZING! I was in tears.
I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Josh to Sunshine:
“I wished my mother was here tonight, which is stupid, because it’s an impossible wish.” He shrugs and turns to me, drowning the smile that cracks me every time.
“It’s not stupid to want to see her again.”
“It wasn’t so much that I wanted to see her again,” he says, looking at me with the depth of more than seventeen years in his eyes. “I wanted her to see you.” --- swooooon
I have been waiting for the perfect guy to use this pic!! I finally found him!!
My Josh: (just gotta figure out how to add a pic!!!)
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

(view spoiler)[I will leave you with another one of my favorite quotes from Josh to Sunshine:
"Emilia," he says and when he does, it warms me to my soul. "Every day you save me." (hide spoiler)]

TEASER

“Evenin’ y’all,” Kylie drawled into the microphone. “I had a song I was gonna sing and then my friend Tonya, she might be your waitress, she told me it sucked—so I guess I’m just gonna play this here guitar and see where it takes us.” She grinned at the audience and then leaned closer to the mic once more. “Oh, and I go right back to serving after this, so if you don’t clap when I’m finished, I can’t be held responsible for what might happen to your drink between the bar and your table.” Kylie winked and strummed a few cords. “Okay, here we go.”

Laughter? Did she hear laughter? She thought she did.

I know you wanna tie me down, know you wanna put a ring on it, but I ain’t never been that kinda girl, not for all the money in the world.

Kylie launched into her modified version of Trace Corbin’s latest hit, Not That Kinda Man.  It was the famous bachelor’s latest lovin’ and leavin’ single and she was attempting to turn the thing on its ear. He’d written and sang it as a sad break up ballad and Kylie had remixed and reworked it into the single girl’s party anthem.

You wanna own me but you don’t know me. Guess what darlin’? When you wake up I’ll be gone.

Kylie flashed her sexiest grin and wiggled a little at the crowd. Then she shouted“Sing it with me girls!” intothe mic and picked up the tempo, launching into the chorus.

Several waitresses, Tonya included, stopped what they were doing to sing along. Not that Kylie could really see them, but the girls in the crowd joined in too. She sang to the guitar player, whose name she was pretty sure was Andy, and he played right along, smiling and winking at her the whole time. Well I’m not that kinda girl, don’t wanna play these games, not gonna wake up in your bed or take your name. She gave Andy a playful smack on the ass and he blew her a kiss. Shrieking whistles radiated from the audience.

The music hummed and pulsed against her and somewhere in Kylie’s mind a little voice said, Holy shit you’re doing it!

When the number was over, she practically flew off the stage, painfully aware of the pounding in her chest. Oh well, if I have a heart attack and die right this moment, I’ll die happy. The applause was loud enough to be heard over the ringing in her ears and she wanted it more than oxygen.

Clive was leaning on the bar, shaking his head but smilingTonya shot her two thumbs up. Kylie let out a little squeal of happiness and sent a silent thank you up to her daddy, feeling certain she was higher than any drug could ever take her.

She would let Tonya go home early tonight and do the rooms herself. She had enough energy to clean ten green rooms. When she told Tonya that, the woman hugged her. Hard. “You knocked ‘em dead, girl! That was amazing!”

“Yeah, well, I got some really good advice,” Kylie told her, unable to keep the permagrin off her face.

The next act stepped out of the shadows and took the stage. Kylie heard a deep male voice with a sexy southern drawl say, “Damn. Just my luck to have to follow that.”

The audience was still shrieking and screaming and Kylie knew she’d done well, but seriously?

“I apologize for standing y’all up a few weeks ago. Musta got my dates mixed up. Probably time to fire that manager of mine,” the handsome man on stage drawled.

Who was this guy? Whoever he was, the women in the audience were going crazy over him.

“Well, since that good looking waitress stole my number, guess I’ll have to sing something else. Where is that girl anyways?”

Oh God. Oh God, please no. Kylie’s heart sank and her high evaporated instantly. She turned to face the man on stage. Trace freaking Corbin was standing there with a guitar in one hand and the other to his eyes, scanning the crowd for…her.

Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2) - Becca Fitzpatrick

Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2)Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.75 stars
Nora wasn't my favorite character in this book. She was so wishy washy, but I guess since she's 17 that's to be expected. There were a lot of things going on and I got confused every now and again with the angels and nephilims. I'm still not sure why she's in so much danger, and Patch is in danger of being sent to hell.

Patch is so sweet and I love him so much in this book. He may make some choices where I'm like wtf, but he's always there to save Nora. It is obvious he's in love with her, but I'm still confused as to why he's kissing Marcie.

This book was left with a cliffhanger!
