Color of Loneliness (Color, #1) - Madeleine Beckett

Color of Loneliness (Color, #1)Color of Loneliness by Madeleine Beckett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Holy crapolie batman! Wow! What an ending. So glad I have book 2!! My heart is pumping in my chest!!!
I only gave it 4 stars because it was a little slow in the beginning. She was definitely building the characters, but there was a lot of contractor work going on that I could have done without.
Susie was awesome! What a wonderful funny BFF!!
Full review to come!
So Myra has had a lot of sadness in her life. She has no living relatives and her only relationship didn't work out. She was betrayed by the man she loves. She does have a wonderful best friend Susie, who I just adore! After her ex-boyfriend, Trent and his new girlfriend Julia flaunt their relationship in her face she gets tired of it and runs across the country to her hometown. Her Grampie left her a paid-for fixer-upper house and she wants to be a writer. What's a better way to start over? She hires a trusted handyman, Dylan, to give her an estimate on her repairs. He is broody and rude to her when he comes to look at her house. She hires him and he definitely doesn't warm up to her. She starts to wonder why he is so hateful to her. He is the most attractive man she has ever laid eyes on, but his attitude is such a turn off.
Myra's best friend Susie is my favorite character in the book and I highlighted the crap out of her funny sayings.
"Sweet baby cabooses on a cracker"
"Holy mother of all things horny"
"Dickweed bad of fire, shit-eating garden gnome"
"You scared the mother-loving hell out of me." And those were only on one page!!! They are through out this book!! Too funny!
Anyway, Myra and Dylan both had a lot of sadness and tribulations in their lives. The first book doesn't uncover all of the mysteries and it kind of leaves a cliff hanger so make sure you have the 2nd book handy!
